On Site Camps
Discovery Day Camps for Ages 6-10
The day camps are very popular. Age appropriate activities include crafts, swimming, games, singing, exploring nature, Bible studies, hikes, the Saturn, pedal boats and canoes, the mini-wall and more. A morning snack and the lunchtime meal are included. A trip to the NC Zoo in nearby Asheboro is scheduled for July 8. Daily van transportation is available to and from Asheboro and Archdale for an additional $15 per week. (Parents not using “Day Camp Transportation” are responsible for bringing (by 8 a.m.) and picking up (by 5 p.m.) their child each day). “Open Hearts…. Helping Hands” Project — campers will make and deliver cookies to the elderly.A Taste of Camp for Ages 7-8
Never been to camp before? Want to find out what it’s like? Want to get a second (or third!) taste of camp before staying a full week? These sessions are full of fun things: swimming, crafts, pedal boats, games, fire tower, songs, Bible study, worship and much more!Camp Adventures for Ages 9-10
This is an exciting week of camp! Fun will include high ropes course, climbing/rappelling tower, the observation tower, aquatics, camp out and cook out, Bible study, worship, hikes, cabin capers, talent show, games, crafts, singing, scavenger hunts, and more!Middle High Camps
You will create a true sense of community with your fellow campers as you work, play, talk and plan activities together. You will be able to go on the climbing/rappelling tower, camp out, cook your meals over a fire, enjoy aquatics, make crafts, lead devotions, go on the high ropes course, compete in cabin capers, perform in the talent show, make pottery, handle critters, and more!“Wilderness Adventure” Camps
These camps are challenging but they are meant to develop outdoor living skills and to learn to work with others, design and complete a campsite project, and to prepare meals over a campfire, build a campsite, identify plant life and wildlife and learn basic campcraft skills and relationship building skills. You will learn the “leave no trace” philosophy. You will go through the high ropes course, climbing/rappelling tower, swim, use the canoes and pedal boats, have daily devotions and more! Bring your own tent, pocketknife, meal kit and rain gear. A complete “Bring List” is mailed upon receiving your registration.Mission Camp
Be an angel of hope to those in need. A week of hard work is an opportunity to put faith into action! For at least five hours each day youth will work inside and outside homes of the poor and in and around Ward Street Mission Church.
The Western North Carolina Conference of the UMC, Pfeiffer School of Religion and Mount Shepherd Retreat Center sponsor this life-changing week of service.
Off Site Camps
“Rafts, Rocks and Rappelling” Camp for Ages 12-14
This camp involves a two-hour (one hour orientation, one hour rafting) experience at the U.S. National Whitewater Center, Charlotte, a day of true rock climbing at Pilot Mountain, and rappelling on the 40’ tower at Mount Shepherd. The USNWC is the world's largest artificial whitewater river and an official U.S. Olympic Training Site.
“Wet-n-Wild White Water Rafting” Camp for Ages 12-14
This camp involves everything that “Rafts, Rocks and Rappelling” Camp will offer (white water rafting at the USNWC in Charlotte, rappelling and high ropes course at Mount Shepherd) except a day of rock climbing at Pilot Mountain State park. You will get wet while having a wild time!
“Saddle Up!” Camps
Saddle up for exciting horseback camps for Christian youth! Groom, saddle and ride horses under the watchful eye of Suzi Shiflet at Pineview Stables. You will learn to care for your horse and gain experience with safe handling techniques and riding. Bring hard sole lace shoes or boots with at least ½” heels and long pants. Beginners and experienced riders are welcomed!
“Golf” for Ages 11-13
Whether you’re a beginner or just need to sharper you skills, you will want to come to “Golf Camp”. Everyone will receive two hours of daily instruction from golf PGA professionals at Tot Hill Farm Golf Club. Tot Hill will supply clubs if needed.
