The Fire Tower

firetower-vertical In 2000, the fire tower was moved from a location in south central North Carolina to Mount Shepherd. Over a two-week period the tower was reassembled like a jigsaw puzzle.

Today, a person can see all of central North Carolina including major cities such as Winston-Salem, Greensboro and High Point. On a clear day Pilot Mountain in north central North Carolina is visible!

The tower is 125’ high. There are 164 steps to the top!

Mount Shepherd Retreat Center is a part of the Western North Carolina Conference and High Point District of the United Methodist Church.

We are fully accredited through the American Camping Association.
