On February 9, 2008, the Board of Directors held a day retreat to review Mount Shepherds’ “Mission Statement”.  Under the direction of Dr. Mark Sills, Executive Director of “FaithAction”, the Board discussed the applicability of the current statement (“Building Christian Commitment through camping and retreat ministries”) that was developed in the early 1990’s.  A six-hour meeting included discussion of how much Mount Shepherd had grown physically and programmatically, the types of groups that are and hope to be served, and the vision of the United Methodist Church. It was believed that the old mission statement lacked a “wow” factor and failed to tell people what we seek to do at Mount Shepherd.
